Il a travaillé avec Michel Boyer, architecte d’intérieur phare des seventies, auprès d’Andrée Putman, star des années 1980, développé Tai Ping Carpets, relancé la Manufacture de tapis Cogolin. Fort de son expérience et de sa grande culture des arts décoratifs, Jean-Pierre Tortil anime depuis 2019 Atelier Tortil, une maison d’édition de mobilier, tapis et luminaires. Des pièces réalisées à travers un réseau d’artisans patiemment développé au fil des ans. Des créations intemporelles dont le style empreint de modernisme tropical dévoile sa passion pour le Brésil où il vécut dix ans. C.S. A.P.

He worked with Michel Boyer, a leading interior designer of the seventies, and Andrée Putman, the star of the eighties. He developed Tai Ping Carpets and relaunched the Cogolin rug brand. Building on his experience and thorough knowledge of the decorative arts, in 2019 Jean-Pierre Tortil founded his own furniture, rug and lamp brand, Atelier Tortil, calling upon the network of artisans that he has patiently built up over the years. The resulting creations express a timeless style steeped in tropical modernism, reflecting Tortil’s fascination with Brazil, where he lived for ten years.
