La Révolution roumaine de 1989 et la « fin » du couple Ceaușescu (qu’avait d’ailleurs couvertes le photographe Gilles Saussier qui s’est ensuite intéressé à... Brancusi [cf. p. 93]) ont peut-être été les premiers événements hypermédiatisés de notre ère. Qui aurait imaginé alors que quelques-uns des jeunes peintres, qui avaient installé leur atelier dans une usine désaffectée de la périphérie de la ville de Cluj, seraient 30 ans plus tard des vedettes du monde de l’art international ? À l’occasion de la saison FranceRoumanie, nous avons souhaité rappeler ce qui s’était passé entre temps sur la scène roumaine, tout en envisageant « l’après Cluj ». Ce dossier a été realisé en collaboration avec la revue Arta, qui publie simultanément un dossier sur la scène française, et avec l’Institut français de Bucarest qui a bien voulu se charger de la traduction des textes. ——— The Romanian Revolution of 1989 and the “end” of the Ceaușescu couple (which had also been covered by photographer Gilles Saussier, who would then take an interest in ... Brancusi [see p. 93]) may have been the first hyper-mediated events of our era. Who would have imagined then that some of the young painters who had set up their studios in a disused factory on the outskirts of the city of Cluj would 30 years later become stars of the international art world? To mark the occasion of the France-Romania season, we wished to recall what had happened in the meantime on the Romanian scene, while contemplating an “after Cluj”. This dossier was made in collaboration with the magazine Arta, which is simultaneously publishing a dossier on the French scene, and with the French Institute of Bucharest, which has kindly taken care of the translation of texts from Romanian to French.
