Art Press - - POINT DE VUE -

The idea of open, experimental, and thus socially and politically creative art is also a part of Clara Cheung’s work. C&G Artpartment, the space she founded in 2007 with her partner Gum Cheng, is one of the first independent art spaces on the territory, hurriedly opened to offer artists a place where they could freely tackle local sociopolitical issues, often stemming from topics ironically borrowed from current events. The first exhibition celebrated the ten-year anniversary of Hong Kong’s retrocession to China and of the famous Basic Law, the territory’s very own constitution that guarantees Hong Kong’s specific status until 2047.
