This green wall was de­signed as a true veg­e­tal ta­pes­try by the botanic artist Pa­trick Blanc. It rests on a metal­lic struc­ture cov­ered by PVC and is equipped with polyamide felt and root pock­ets which al­low the plants to de­velop with­out a nat­u­ral sub­strate. Church re­vised by Jean Jules Mon­det (1879-1882).

10 ÉGLISE SAINT-PIERRE

This build­ing stands on the site of the for­mer har­bour of the Ro­man cas­tra. Its old­est el­e­ments, in­clud­ing the beau­ti­ful carved gate, date from the 14th and 15th cen­tury. This church was re­con­structed in the 19th cen­tury keep­ing some el­e­ments of the me­dieval church. Place Saint-pierre - A > Place du Palais

11 PORTE CAILHAU

Built be­tween 1493 and 1496 on the site of an an­cient de­fen­sive gate, this gate­house hon­oured King Charles VIII’S con­quest of the Kin­godm of Naples. On the side fac­ing the river, a niche with his ef­figy com­mem­o­rates his vic­to­ries in the build up to the Bat­tle of Fornovo (1495). While un­doubt­edly a mil­i­tary ed­i­fice, equipped with a portcullis and wide machico­la­tions, the forth­com­ing Re­nais­sance pe­riod brought with it a new ar­chi­tec­tural lan­guage of mul­lioned win­dows and free­stone carv­ings.a twenty-three me­tre high panoramic view of the river.
