MARTIN BRUNDLE

CONCIERGE – The F1 Inside Track - - RACING LINES -

Martin was a one-race replacement for an ill Nigel Mansell at Williams for the 1988 Belgium GP. That season’s Williams was not the best, but Martin immediately showed his talent by achieving the fastest wet qualifying time (although it was made irrelevant by the other session being dry). He went on to finish seventh in the race, a points-scoring position in current terms. His talent was clear, as is also shown by his Sports Car World Championship victory that year.
