EXCURSION: DOLCEACQUA

CONCIERGE – The F1 Inside Track - - BEYOND THE TRACK | EXPLORE -

Built in the Middle Ages, and made famous by impressionist master Claude Monet, the Italian village of Dolceacqua is a must visit. The castle, once home to the powerful Genoese family the Dorias, offers sweeping views of the old town and is open to visitors. Monet’s The Castle of Dolceacqua helped immortalise the fortifications but there is much more to see. You are guaranteed to get lost in the narrow, winding streets, but if you are lucky you will discover a store selling the delicious wines and olive oils of the region. The church boasts a Saint Devote altarpiece by Louis Brea, commissioned by François Grimaldi. www.dolceacqua.it
