Et les gagnants sont ...

Welcome Awards by CIWY’S first edition celebrated and awarded the French capital’s best tourist-friendly addresses and here we bring you the proud winners for you to discover. Foodies visiting the City of Light will be happy to discover Les Fauves. Winning the Food Lovers award, this neo bistro serves high quality cuisine at attractive bistro prices. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and brunch on Sundays and public holidays, this restaurant focuses on serving fresh food using local and organic produce. In a relaxed space, peppered with lots of green plants, enjoy organic salmon marinated in wasabi, served with pickles and cucumber, and beef tartare served with hand-cut fries and vegetable chips. Located in the former Récollets convent, Café A is a hipster’s dream come true for a drink in Paris. Winning the Have a Drink award, Café A boasts a garden where you are invited to enjoy a cocktail or two. Another spot worth visiting is Bar à Bulles, one of the two winners of the Welcome Awards by CIWY Sponsor’s Favourite award. The rooftop bar lets you enjoy champagne and tapas under the starry Parisian skies. Meanwhile, in the lively 11th arrondissement, a few minutes away from Place de la Bastille is where the Badaboum bar and club hides behind a blacked-out exterior and a cordoned off entrance. Winning the After Midnight award, Badaboum is where mixologist Nicolas D. works his mixology magic, creating original cocktails, with some served in dainty porcelain teacups. After getting into the party mood, partially thanks to enjoying a couple of Nicolas’s cocktails, head downstairs where the club awaits with pumping music and a rotating programme of DJS that will have you dancing until the wee hours of the morning. For souvenirs from the French capital there is no losing out to La Cueillette des Saveurs, the winner of the Little Shop award. Specialising in offering shoppers French-made products, this is a great little shop to find French specialties that you can take back home with you including foie gras, chocolate and even cider. Another great French product is of course wine and the second winner of the Welcome Awards by CIWY Sponsor’s Favourite award is Le Vin Qui Parle, a boutique in the heart of the Saint-germain neighbourhood where you will find an impressive choice of wine. The establishment also organises tastings that you can organise by simply calling ahead. According to comedian Olivier Giraud anyone can become French, and more specifically Parisian, in one hour, and during his stand-up show, How to Become Parisian in One Hour?, which won the Cultural Discoveries award, Giraud will give you all the tools you need to blend into the Parisian crowd. From ordering at a café to shopping along the beautiful avenues of the city, Giraud makes sure you are well-armed for the City of Light with his comical observations. Performed in English, the show is hilarious, leaving everyone, visitors and tourists alike, in stitches from laughter.
