SOUTH OF PARIS FONTAINEBLEAU FONTAINEBLEAU CASTLE
With over 1500 rooms and 130 acres of parkland and gardens, the Château of Fontainebleau is one of the largest of the French royal castles and it remains the only royal and imperial castle to have been inhabited for seven centuries. Kings and members of the court enjoyed hunting and outdoor pursuits there and it was a favourite of Saint Louis and Philip the Fair who was born and who died there.
