DUNKERQUE / BEYOND APPEARANCES

-

Since its reopening in 2005, the Laac has kept enriching its collections. To date, more than a thousand works gathered in the seventies by collector Gilbert Deleine have been added to some 700 pieces either acquired or donated (Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung, Serge Poliakoff, Georges Mathieu, Alfred Manessier, Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell, Karel Appel, Pierre Alechinsky...) and shown in the surprising white ceramic building. Located in a sculpture park the venue is right next to the port and the beach. The exhibition “Se fier aux apparences, Françoise Pétrovitch” features more than 80 works in collaboration with the Frac Nord-Pas-de-Calais: drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations. Conceived as a dialogue between the works of Pétrovich and the works of other artists, 5 sequences call into question the notions of body, sight, face, disappearance…
