MTN gets into the platform game
South Africa’s huge telcom MTN is launching a round of new services in order to raise more revenue. It wants to be big in mobile money, music and chat in the 17 African countries where it operates.
MTN is set to launch music-streaming services by July in all of its African markets.
CEO Rob Shuter said in March that MTN will soon pilot an app it hopes will rival Whatsapp and Wechat.
Nigeria, South Africa and Sudan are set to be the next markets to get MTN mobilemoney services.
