Poplar Grove – Cabernet Franc 2013
BC VQA Okanagan Valley
The nose is fruity, structured, slightly gourmand and slightly powerful. It reveals notes of blackberry, fresh cassis and slight notes of licorice associated with a woody hint as well as discreet hints of blueberry and spices. The palate is fruity, soft, velvety, tight, well-balanced and offers a slight acid frame, a slight minerality, a nice volume, tension, straightness as well as a nice definition. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry, cassis and slight notes of plum associated with a discreet hint of strawberry, an imperceptible hint of blueberry, discreet hints of licorice, toasted/caramelized oak as well as a subtle hint of flowers (in the background) and mocha. Tannins are fine and well-built. Good length and persistence. The persistence is relatively gourmande.
