Envelhecida, Imo Shochu (Sweet potatoes)

Den-en Shuzo, 25% alc (Kagoshima, Japan)

-

This Shochu made from Satsuma sweet potatoes has a gold color. The nose is sweet, intense with vanilla and tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple. The mouth is smooth with 25% alcohol. We can feel the power of the whisky casks in which this shochu has aged for 3 years. It’s slightly sweet with pronounced aromas of candied orange, dried mango, vanilla, toast and jammy apricot. The finish is long. You could enjoy this Japanese spirit on the rock or also with sparkling water or tonic. You can also pair Envelhecida with pork and poultry during a meal. (C.C.G.)
