SICILIAN RED WINES Feudo Mon­toni

Nero d’Avola Lag­nusa 2015

Si­cilia The nose is fruity, gour­mand, racy, volup­tuous and quite el­e­gant. It re­veals notes of black­berry cream, cas­sis and cherry com­bined with fine touches of juicy berries, earth / ter­ra­cotta, a dis­creet note of blue­berry, fine touches of spices as well as an im­per­cep­ti­ble hint of Cuben pep­per and an im­per­cep­ti­ble toasted hint. The palate is fruity, gour­mande, har­mo­nious, «clean», racy, del­i­cate and of­fers a nice suavity, fat, a fine unc­tu­os­ity, a beau­ti­ful pre­ci­sion / def­i­ni­tion, min­er­al­ity, a good guide­line, a beau­ti­ful mat­ter and a fine fresh frame. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of ripe cherry, dried rasp­berry and fine notes of crushed cas­sis, earth as­so­ci­ated with fine touches of small ripe / juicy berries, zan, caramelized oak as well as sub­tle hints of sweet spices. Tan­nins are fine and well-built. Good length and good per­sis­tence. The per­sis­tence is gour­mande and of­fers touches of choco­late, sweet spices and a dis­creet hint of roasted hazel­nut.

Si­cilia The nose is aro­matic, fine, fruity, racy, el­e­gant, finely en­chant­ing, finely pow­er­ful and of­fers a very slight in­ten­sity (but full of fi­nesse). It re­veals notes of black cherry, blue­berry and hints of cas­sis as­so­ci­ated with slight earthy notes/ter­roir, plum, dis­creet hints of sour cherry, rasp­berry as well as a dis­creet hint of choco­late, Cuben pep­per, licorice and carameliza­tion/ ripe al­mond. The palate is nicely fruity, well-bal­anced, nicely racy, slightly tight and of­fers a slight den­sity, a slight min­er­al­ity, round­ness, a slight suavity, a fresh frame, a beau­ti­ful ex­pres­sion/def­i­ni­tion as well as a slight ten­sion. In the mouth this wine ex­presses slight hints of ripe blue­berry, wild Boy­sen­ber­ries and dis­creet/(very) slight hints of ripe rasp­berry, earth as­so­ci­ated with slight notes of plum, licorice/zan, car­damom, a sub­tle hint of choco­late as well as a dis­creet hint of racy min­er­al­ity. Tan­nins are fine, racy and very dis­cretely firms. Beau­ti­ful gour­man­dise on the fin­ish. Good length and good per­sis­tence. A beau­ti­ful, racy wine!

Si­cilia The nose is fruity, aro­matic, gour­mand and of­fers depth­ness and con­cen­tra­tion. It re­veals notes of crushed Bi­gar­reau cherry, crushed ripe cas­sis and fine notes of ripe wild straw­berry, black­berry as­so­ci­ated with sub­tle touches of blue­berry, licorice, caramelized oak, dark choco­late, a sub­tle touch of black olive as well as an im­per­cep­ti­ble touch of olive and green car­damom. The wine is marked by its ter­roir. The palate is fruity, well­bal­anced, racy, very gour­mande and of­fers a nice def­i­ni­tion / del­i­cacy, a beau­ti­ful suavity / fat, depth­ness, a min­eral frame, com­plex­ity as well as a silky and slightly unc­tu­ous mat­ter. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of cas­sis jam, black­berry and fine notes of blue­berry as­so­ci­ated with touches of ripe red fruits (red berries, cherry), touches of choco­late, toasted oak, vanilla as well as a sub­tle touch of pra­line, ter­roir / soil and black olive. Tan­nins are well-built. Good length. There are a hint of min­er­al­ity, a hint of melted choco­late and a hint of caramel on the fin­ish.

Si­cilia The nose is fruity, aro­matic, finely con­cen­trated and of­fers gour­man­dise. The wine needs to be de­canted. It re­veals notes of crushed black­berry, wild berries and plum jam as­so­ci­ated with fine notes of red fruits as well as touches of zan, black olive, to­bacco, dark choco­late, wood / sweet spices and an im­per­cep­ti­ble hint of hazel­nut. The palate is fruity, well­bal­anced, finely pow­er­ful and of­fers a nice juicy frame, a fine min­er­al­ity, a fine ten­sion, fat, a good def­i­ni­tion, fresh­ness and com­plex­ity. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of crushed cas­sis, jammy blue­berry and fine notes of black­berry, black cherry, ripe small red fruits as­so­ci­ated with touches of choco­late, vanilla, car­damom as well as an im­per­cep­ti­ble touch of toasted al­mond and toasted oak. Tan­nins are fine and dis­creetly dry. Good length. The fin­ish is rel­a­tively gour­mande.

Si­cilia IGT The nose is finely pow­er­ful of­fers a fine con­cen­tra­tion. It re­veals notes of cas­sis, black cherry and wild berries as­so­ci­ated with touches of grove / olive, lau­rel as well as touches of wild straw­berry and spices. The palate is fruity, well-bal­anced and of­fers a nice min­eral frame, a fine acid­ity, a fine juici­ness, ten­sion, fresh­ness and a cer­tain straight­ness. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of black­berry, black cherry, juicy black berries and ripe / crushed Gariguette straw­berry as­so­ci­ated with touches of cas­sis and fine touches of zan, to­bacco, wood, spices as well as a fine hint of mocha. Tan­nins are fine, a bit tight and very slightly / dis­creetly dry. Good length.

LGP Terre Si­cil­iane The nose is fruity and finely pow­er­ful. It re­veals notes of cas­sis and black berries com­bined with fine hints of cherry, Cuben pep­per and fine touches of oak, gar­rigue, flint and spices. The palate is fruity, juicy, nively gour­mande and of­fers a nice dy­namism, an acid frame, a fine min­er­al­ity, fat, a fine unc­tu­os­ity, a nice mat­ter and a good def­i­ni­tion. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of jammy red­cur­rant, wild straw­berry and black­berry com­bined with fine touches of juicy black berries / blue­ber­ries as well as touches of zain, a sub­tle hint of tea and choco­late (in the back­ground). Tan­nins are very slightly dry. Good length.

Si­cilia IGT The nose is aro­matic, struc­tured, finely pow­er­ful and of­fers a fine in­ten­sity. It re­veals notes of cas­sis, wild berries and gar­rigue com­bined with fine notes of wild straw­berry, cherry as well as hints of flow­ers, licorice, black olive and pep­per. The palate is fruity, well-bal­anced and of­fers a nice min­eral frame, a fine / dis­creet acid­ity (in the back­ground), suavity, a good struc­ture, fat, a good def­i­ni­tion as well as a nice guide­line. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of fleshy / ripe black­berry, fleshy cas­sis and fine notes of rasp­berry, ripe / juicy red berries as­so­ci­ated with a touch of to­bacco, cedar wood, zan as well as sub­tle toasted touches and an im­per­cep­ti­ble touch of vanilla (in the back­ground). Tan­nins are struc­tur­ing and racy. Good length.

The nose re­veals notes of fresh cherry, fresh berries and fine notes of rose

/ flow­ers as­so­ci­ated with touches of flint and a sub­tle hint of crushed white fruits (pear). The palate is fruity, well-bal­anced and of­fers a beau­ti­ful acid frame, a nice min­er­al­ity, a good fresh­ness, gour­man­dise, fi­nesse, a nice fat as well as a nice def­i­ni­tion. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of fresh rasp­berry, red­cur­rant and small notes of fleshy cherry as­so­ci­ated with fine touches of cas­sis, crushed ap­ple as well as a hint of cit­rus (clemen­tine, lemon), a sub­tle hint of lime zest and fine touches of flint. Good length.

Nerello Mas­calese – Rose di Adele 2016

Si­cilia DOC The nose is fruity, gour­mand and of­fers min­er­al­ity as well as a fine rich­ness. It re­veals notes of fleshy rasp­berry, Ta­gada straw­berry and small notes of red­cur­rant jam com­bined with a hint of fresh black­berry as well as a very dis­creet hint of flow­ers and sub­tle hints of gar­rigue. The palate is fruity, gour­mande, fine and of­fers del­i­cacy, fresh­ness, min­er­al­ity, a beau­ti­ful grain, a nice depth­ness, an acid frame as well as a beau­ti­ful and finely silky mat­ter. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of crushed rasp­berry and crushed red­cur­rant com­bined with fine touches of black­berry, Granny Smith ap­ple as well as small notes of flint and a dis­creet touch of cit­rus zest / man­darin. Good length. Beau­ti­ful per­sis­tence.

Feudo Mon­toni Grillo Timpa 2016

Si­cilia DOC The nose is fruity, aro­matic, nicely gour­mande, fresh, straight and well­bal­anced. It re­veals notes of ex­otic fruitss, ap­ple and quenette com­bined with small notes of fresh white flow­ers as well as a touch of candied lemon / pineap­ple in syrup and ter­roir. The palate is fruity, well-bal­anced, a bit aerial and of­fers a nice acid frame, a beau­ti­ful min­er­al­ity / fresh­ness, gour­man­dise, a fine straight­ness as well as a nice mat­ter. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of ex­otic fruitss (quenette, pas­sion fruit) as­so­ci­ated with touches of crushed / ripe ap­ple, white flow­ers (hon­ey­suckle, lilac …) as well as a sub­tle touch of flint and zest of lime / yuzu. Good length and beau­ti­ful per­sis­tence. There is a dis­creet hint of rocky / saline min­er­al­ity on the per­sis­tence. There is a dis­creet touch of bit­ter­ness on the af­ter­taste.

Catar­ratto del Masso 2016

Si­cilia DOC The nose is fruity, racy, rel­a­tively pow­er­ful and of­fers a cer­tain pu­rity, a fine min­er­al­ity and a fine con­cen­tra­tion. It re­veals notes of fresh lemon, crushed plum and fine notes of cit­rus as­so­ci­ated with a touch of zest, flint / min­er­al­ity and im­per­cep­ti­ble / dis­creet hints of olive (in the back­ground). The palate is fruity, per­fectly bal­anced and of­fers a nice def­i­ni­tion, a very nice fresh­ness, a beau­ti­ful acid frame, suavity, a nice fat, a very fine unc­tu­os­ity, a beau­ti­ful dy­namism, a small aerial side and ten­sion. On the palate this wine ex­presses notes of ripe green ap­ple, lemon and small notes of clemen­tine as­so­ci­ated with touches of cit­rus zest (lime, grape­fruit …), fine touches of flint, a sub­tle hint of quince, crushed pear as well as an im­per­cep­ti­ble toasted touch and al­mond. Good length.
