Molly-Mae Hague

Can influencers escape ethical concerns? Molly-Mae Hague, a former reality TV show contestant and one of the most famous social media icons in the UK, just became the creative director of the UK and EU branch of fast fashion brand, Pretty Little Things. With its factories based in the city of Leicester, Pretty Little Things and its parent company, Boohoo, have recently been criticised for their treatment of workers, comparing it to “modern slavery.” Their employees are paid as little as £3.50 an hour – far below the minimum wage. Hague’s decision to work for the brand therefore sparked criticism. Asked by Newsbeat and the BBC about it, she refused to comment.
