Car­rie Gra­cie, one of the BBC’s top jour­na­lists, has been wi­de­ly prai­sed af­ter she quit her job as a Chi­na edi­tor in pro­test against the gen­der pay gap, ac­cu­sing the Bri­tish cor­po­ra­tion of ha­ving a “se­cre­tive and ille­gal” culture of une­qual sa­la­ries. In an open let­ter, Car­rie Gra­cie ac­cu­sed her bosses of ta­king a “di­vide-and-rule” ap­proach to fe­male staff. She said the BBC was fa­cing a “cri­sis of trust,” af­ter it was re­vea­led two-thirds of its stars ear­ning more than £150,000 were male.
