Timothée Chalamet was born in 1995 (aged 25). His mother is American, and his father, French, and a former U.S. correspondent for Le Parisien. Chalamet is fluent in both French and English. He was raised in a wealthy household and attended prestigious schools.

An impressive early career
At the beginning of his career, Chalamet appeared in multiple successful movies, starting with Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Tim Burton’s Ms Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Stephen Hawkins› biopic The Theory Of Everything. Despite these successes, the actor was yet to have a major breakthrough.

Chalamet’s break came with Call Me By Your Name, a critically acclaimed drama which earned him nominations for the BAFTA, the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Call Me By Your Name is a love story between two men in 1980's Italy, adapted from a novel by Andre Anciman. Preparing for the part was no small feat: Chalamet had to learn Italian, as well as to play the piano and the guitar.

He has sometimes been compared to Leonardo DiCaprio, because of his precocious acting abilities, androgynous looks and popularity among a teen audience – leading him to be praised by film critics and fans of pop culture fans alike.

A plethora of successes followed Call Me By Your Name, including Lady Bird, Little Women and The King – Chalamet›s second starring role, where he plays a young King Henry V, inspired by the Shakespeare character. He also starred in A Rainy Day In New York by Woody Allen – but due to controversy regarding Allen’s sexual abuse allegation, the film wasn’t released in the United-States, and Chalamet donated his entire salary to organisations for women and LGBT+ non-profits. Chalamet is now joining the all-star crew of Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, after starring in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune earlier this Autumn.
