Previewed at the Toronto film festival, Mia Hansen– Løve’s Eden describes the wild nights of the 90s and the emergence of the French Touch electronic music scene. The action is seen through the eyes of a young DJ, Paul, who is completely immersed in the scene. The director found her inspiration in the career of her brother, DJ Sven Hansen–Løve, who pioneered rave parties in France and organised Cheers evenings with his partner Greg Gauthier, then Respect evenings at the Queen club in Paris. “The film is in two parts: the golden age and the discovery of the music, and the first parties, the road to success; then the disenchantment and the need to bounce back. The years depicted in the film are our paradise lost”, Sven Hansen–Løve said recently, describing the difficulties of shooting many of the scenes in a club with hundreds of extras. Among the actors in the cast are Laura Smet, Vincent Lacoste, Vincent Macaigne, Golshifteh Farahani and Greta Gerwig. Released 19th November 2014.
