In Pasadena ( California ), des. res., designed and built in 1923 by renowned architect ( Frank Lloyd Wright ), two years after the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Set in an acre of grounds, the building uses the textile block system of perforated bricks made from sand, gravel and minerals sourced on–site, with no exterior cladding. Millard House, also known as La Miniatura, was one of the buildings in Los Angeles to make The New York Times’ 1980 list of classic works of the twentieth century.
