A Magnificent Moonphase

Last year Rolex introduced an entirely new model into its Cellini collection, the Cellini Moonphase, with a distinctive and exclusive display of the phases of the moon. Ensconced in a 39mm case of 18- carat Everose gold, the model is driven by a self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Rolex with a patented complication to display the moon phases. The watch is outfitted with a brown alligator leather strap with a folding Crownclasp in 18- carat Everose gold and the watch’s intriguing dial is in white lacquer and inset with the moon phase disk in blue enamel. The full moon is fashioned in meteorite while the new moon is represented by a silver ring and the moon phase is read through an indicator set at 12 o’clock on the subdial as the full moon and the new moon rotate through the lunar cycle. The date hand is in blue and delicately terminates in a crescent moon. This moon phase watch is waterproof to 50 metres and is astronomically accurate for 122 years. - P.V
