With the end of summer nearing all we dream of doing is prolonging the bliss of warm summer nights with the slight breeze caressing us as we enjoy a glass of chilled wine, and the chic remedy to cure us of the end of summer blues is an alfresco dinner at La Cour Jardin at the Plaza Athénée. The ephemeral restaurant, which closes its doors for the year at the end of this month, is one of the most charming, and famous, addresses in the French capital. The seasonal restaurant, which opens annually from May through to September, is nestled in the heart of the hotel’s courtyard, and it is magical, with its hanging garden, signature red awnings and flowers, and elegant service. This year chef Mathieu Emeraud has put together the perfect summer menu with dishes including a tangy and creamy artichoke and lemon risotto, chilled blue lobster refreshed with crushed coriander, and Alain Ducasse’s signature cookpot of vegetables, a medley of wild mushrooms, baby potatoes and green asparagus. The hotel’s pastry chef Angelo Musa has also created a sweet dessert menu with interesting pairings including the chocolate and black cardamom delight served with a drizzle of tobacco liqueur. – S.I.
