the FIAC, the In­ter­na­tional Con­tem­po­rary Art Fair, be­ing held for the 45th time this year, brings to­gether be­neath the cap­ti­vat­ing glass cupola of the Grand Palais some 193 lead­ing gal­leries from 27 coun­tries show­cas­ing mod­ern and con­tem­po­rary art. De­sign is also on the agenda at the FIAC this year with five in­ter­na­tion­ally known gal­leries show­cas­ing 20th and 21st cen­tury de­sign. The FIAC Projects part of the show lo­cated in­side the Pe­tit Palais across the way and on the Av­enue Wil­son Churchill ( turned into a pedes­trian venue for the event) presents some 40 sculp­tures and in­stal­la­tion works. Place de la Con­corde is the venue for ex­cep­tional ar­chi­tec­tural in­stal­la­tions rep­re­sent­ing both con­tem­po­rary and his­toric ar­chi­tec­ture and fea­tur­ing no­madic and utopic vi­sions of liv­ing. In con­junc­tion with the Lou­vre, 20 works will be pre­sented in the heart of the Tui­leries. Ga­leries Lafayette, the FIAC’s of­fi­cial part­ner, is host­ing a space, the Secteur Lafayette, of 10 young gal­leries fea­tur­ing emerg­ing tal­ents, of­fer­ing a pre­cious vis­i­bil­ity to young cre­ators dur­ing this ma­jor art ren­dezvous. Mean­while, the house of Guer­lain, which is cel­e­brat­ing its 190th an­niver­sary this year, is par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Par­cours Privé ( The Pri­vate Path­way) of the FIAC with an ex­hi­bi­tion Fu­tures An­térieurs ( Pre­vi­ous Fu­tures) re­volv­ing around the avant- garde of con­tem­po­rary art. - P.
