A stun­ning series with Kate Moss, a street scene in Rome, and an iconic por­trait of the French ac­tress Béa­trice Dalle are just some of the highly orig­i­nal, re­al­is­tic and per­fectly con­structed pho­to­graphs by Stephanie Pfrien­der Sty­lan­der. These pho­to­graphs, among oth­ers, are be­ing pre­sented in a show en­ti­tled The Un­tamed Eye, af­ter the pho­tog­ra­pher’s beau­ti­ful book of the same name, be­ing held at the Ga­lerie de l’In­stant. Stephanie Pfrien­der Sty­lan­der be­gan her ca­reer in the 1990s as a fash­ion and por­trait pho­tog­ra­pher trav­el­ling be­tween Mi­lan, Paris and New York. Her style, nearly cin­e­mato­graphic, draws its in­spi­ra­tion from the Ital­ian Neo-Re­al­ism film move­ment, the French New Wave and the aes­thetic in the films of John Cas­savetes. -
