Custom-made controllers for hardware synths
Many compact synthesizers do not offer dedicated controls for all functions: Just think of the polyphonic analogs Roland MKS-80 as well as Oberheim Matrix 6 and 1000 from the eighties. No wonder that dedicated programmers were offered for these. The menu-oriented operation of some current compact synths like Waldorf Blofeld and Pulse 2 as well as DSI Evolver and Mopho is not everyone‘s cup of tea either. This can be remedied by software or hardware controllers, which ideally offer a controller for each function. Controllers tailored to the functions of certain synthesizers are particularly convenient.
Dtronics DT-RDX
The solidly built hardware controller DT-RDX equips the compact FM synthesizer Yamaha Reface DX with controllers for all parameters. The controller‘s operating unit is located on a metal frame onto which the Reface DX can be fixed. The unit then sits in a perfect operating position slightly angled towards the user behind the synthesizer. In combination with the Reface DX, the DT-RDX left the impression of the first truly intuitive programmable FM synthesizer - a real achievement! We especially liked the intuitive macro function for quick sound adjustment.

Stereoping Synth Controller CE-1
With its Synth Controller CE-1 Stereoping offers a MIDI controller that can be used for many different hardware synthesizers. For a suitable look and labeling, corresponding „faceplates“are offered for synths like DSI Tetr4, Waldorf Blofeld or Oberheim Matrix 1000. The high-quality processed device has 16 knobs with which you can switch between up to three different functions. Thanks to the various firmwares and faceplates, the CE-1 is an excellent choice to simplify working with the supported synthesizers.
