Tahti Studio

Tahti Studio is a software groovebox of a special kind. Because the program does not need to be installed or integrated as a plug-in into the DAW, but runs directly in the browser on your computer. All you have to do is enter the address tahti.studio in the compatible browser and you‘re ready to go. Tahti Studio provides eight tracks with 16 steps each, and you can load a different sample on each track. You can use the included content or import your own samples. The start and end points, as well as the loop points and pitch of the samples, can all be edited. In the chaser sequencer, you determine on which steps the sample should be triggered. So far, this does not sound very spectacular; however, Tahti Studio offers per-step modulation possibilities that have to hide even behind Elektron hardware devices like Rytm and Analog Four, known masters in this field. For each step individually or even for several steps at the same time, various parameters can be adjusted. Be it multitrigger/ratchets, the probability of triggering, filters, pitch or effects - everything can be changed with one click per step, and that for each of the eight tracks individually!

Verdict

Even if Tahti Studio may seem unimpressive at first glance, the browser-based groovebox has it all. Thanks to the well thought-out and intuitive operation in combination with extremely extensive modulation options per step, complex and varied grooves and patterns can be created with the eight tracks, and the whole thing is also really fun and can be accessed anywhere via the browser.
