SE-3X

-

The SE-3X is a further development of the almost 30 year old monophonic classic SE-1(X). The three oscillators of the 3-voice paraphonic synthesizer inspire with a rich, dry sound. The sonic vocabulary is expanded by pulse width modulation as well as oscillator synchronization with floating and metallic cutting sounds. On the oscillator level, white noise and a ring modulator are added. The filter section features models that emulate the classic sounds of Minimoog, Oberheim SEM (lowpass and bandpass), ARP 2600 and Roland Jupiter/Juno.

Sound tornado or a tempest in the teacup? The SE-3 sounds very punchy and massive, but also more complex sound progressions are possible. The filter section is the highlight of the synthesizer, hardly any other analog synthesizer in this area has such a variety of sounds to offer. Anyone who chooses this synthesizer will probably enjoy it for a lifetime - both in terms of the durability of the hardware and the scope of the sound palette that can be produced.

With its clunky rack case and its proud price, the SE-3X looks like a relic from long forgotten times. In terms of sound, however, the synthesizer shows the young hoppers the limits. Especially the dry, clean deep basses are unparalleled and directly demonstrate why the predecessor SE-1X is so popular especially with hip-hop producers. Paraphony, the four legendary filter types as well as a musical overdrive effect provide a wide sound spectrum. The SE-3X also convincingly masters cutting leads, sparkling arpeggios and even atmospheric drones and strings.
