The HALion instrument, Hybrid Hit, which was created in collaboration between Steinberg and dvCompTools, aims to meet this need. This tool allows you to design sounds from three layers, with a tone generator, various noise and attack sounds and different samples to choose from. Thanks to the lush sample library that includes 804 impacts, drum hits, drum sounds and field recordings, multi-faceted results are possible.

It goes without saying that the individual sound components can be flexibly adjusted. Each layer has its own chain of three effects, and you can choose between 12 insert effects. With Hybrid Hit, you can not only create drums in all shapes and colors, but you can also produce exciting effect sounds or even gripping rhythms. This is thanks to the 32-step sequencer that is available for each layer. Since several sound parameters can be controlled and modulated, you can create complex rhythms in no time.

Verdict

Even if the user interface of this sample instrument seems a bit old-fashioned, it sounds ultra-modern and fresh with its hybrid sound. Even when trying out the almost 200 very successful presets, there are always sonic aha effects such as massive impacts, futuristic sequences, abstract textures, and banging drums. And those who want to get into sound design themselves will appreciate Hybrid Hit as a great creative playground.
