Here, in particular, LandR, iZotope Ozone and the like have made professional-sounding masters possible for many hobby producers. In mixing, there was already an approach in place with Neutron from iZotope, but a lot still had to be done by hand. RoEx Audio promises almost completely automatic Mixing.

Roex Audio, Unchained, what‘s it all about?

Unchained is a digital distributor like Distrokid. And for the auto-mixing technology, the company has teamed up with the start-up, RoEx Audio. The idea: you upload the stems of your finished track and the Unchained engine automatically mixes the whole thing. After uploading, you can set the „Importance“in the mix, the Panning Position and the amount of Reverb for each instrument group.

There are also nine different genres to choose from for the mixing style, depending on whether you‘re into Pop, Rock or Hip Hop, for example. There are no detailed settings for EQ, compression or other effects, as offered by competitors like Cryo Mix. However, Cryo Mix only allows you to upload one instrumental and vocals.

AI Mixing – Who needs that?

I could fill books with the complaints and worries of many of my producer friends when it comes to mixing. And I could build entire neighborhoods out of the stones that fall from the hearts of the music makers in my circle of friends when they no longer have to mix themselves. There‘s a reason why there are so many tutorials and so many plug-ins for almost every topic.
