DELOREAN DMC-12 IS ONE OF THE MOST REVOLUTIONARY AND PERHAPS ONE OF THE MOST FLEETING MODELS IN THE HISTORY OF AUTOMOBILES. IT WAS ONLY MADE IN 1981 AND 1982.

Since Pontiac GTO was sold in 1964, the first of the so-called muscle-cars, John Zachary DeLorean (1925-2005) became famous and General Motors focused its attention on his talent. He made the Monte Carlo for Chevrolet, another best-seller. So, at the age of 40 he became vice president of General Motors. His friends say that he left General Motors and his enemies suggest that he was taken out. Anyway, John DeLorean was already one of the young millionaires in the U.S. motor industry in 1974. He decided to make his own car and raised funds to make his dream come true. DeLorean established his factory (DMC) in North Ireland, near Belfast. He hired 600 workers and the first DMC-12 was put out on December 3, 1980. It could have been magnificent, but quality issues, design modifications and the lack of direct attention paid by John DeLorean to the production, brought about serious financial problems.
