Dear readers,
The ability to pack a punch is created in a team. The equation “1 + 1 = Better” that we’ve put on the title page applies to almost all areas of life – be it in a sporting, personal, or professional setting. And of course, it also applies to the teamwork between people and technology. With these lines, I cordially welcome you to the new issue of our technology magazine “tomorrow” with its focus topic “teamwork.”
Teamwork shapes our daily work at Schaeffler too. In challenging times like these it does so more than ever. Especially as a family-owned company, we’re conscious of the fact that we can achieve our goals only jointly, in interaction with our customers, partners and suppliers, and with the support of our engaged employees. Schaeffler has aligned its leadership principles along those lines as well: transparency, trust, and teamwork. This triad guides our actions. Day after day, project after project.
Teamwork is also the fitting keyword for a strategic milestone in Schaeffler’s corporate history to which I and many employees have been intensely devoted in recent months. With our planned merger – that has already progressed far – with Vitesco Technologies AG, we’re going to put the Schaeffler Group in an even more competitive and forward-thinking position. Together we intend to create a motion technology company as a global leader building on the existing strengths of both businesses. Teamwork under the maxim of “Stronger Together.”
All the parties involved realize that the merger of two corporate structures is not a walk in the park, and I’d like to use this opportunity to expressly thank everyone involved for the teamwork that has been performed so far. It was evident that the will to successfully complete the integration of Vitesco is clearly greater than the challenges that entails. As a result of everyone dealing with each other constructively and respectfully, we’ve already accomplished a lot. This interaction is supported by our shared vision: creating something new together. That’s a truly crucial key to successful teamwork because only those pursuing a shared goal are going to work in the same direction. Our goal for the merger is to not only add up the innovative prowess and the technological expertise of our two companies but to multiply the synergy effects.
I’m firmly convinced that the combined innovative prowess and technological expertise of both companies are going to make important contributions to mastering the major challenges of our times. However, it’s evident that no company and no nation will be able to accomplish that on its own. It takes a world selection of top players, plus – as symbolically depicted on our title page – close collaboration between people and technology to exploit our full potential.
