Lord, Forester pro­pel GCC to first in­nings over GYO

A clin­i­cal spell of left-arm spin bowl­ing from skip­per Devon Lord helped guide the Ge­orge­town Cricket Club (GCC) to first in­nings points over the Gandhi Youth Or­ga­ni­za­tion (GYO) in the No­ble House Seafoods/Ge­orge­town Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion, two-day, sec­ond-di­vi­sion com­pe­ti­tion at the GYO ground yes­ter­day.

GCC, in re­ply to GYO’s 137 all out, ended the day on 143 for 2, off 23 overs, to claim first in­nings hon­ours at stumps on day one.

Opener Win­ston Forester top scored with 72 an in­nings which in­cluded 13 fours and a six.

For­rester shared in a cen­tury stand with Khem­raj Jaikar­ran (28).

The day be­gan with GCC win­ning the toss and invit­ing the hosts to take the first strike.

West Indies un­der – 19 fast bowler Ron­aldo Ali – Mo­hammed (4-55), took the first four wick­ets to fall while Utom Mun­roe ham­mered 75 with 14 fours and a six.

Lord then claimed the re­main­ing six wick­ets to end with 6-25 from 6.3 overs. Suren­dra Hi­ralal (22) was the only other bats­man to reach dou­ble fig­ures for the host.
