Den Amstel wins Tiwarie football tourney

Den Amstel was crowned the inaugural Brian Tiwarie Birthday Anniversary InterVillage Football Champions, making light work of Timehri on Friday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.

The home side cruised to the title following a bye to the championship match, mauling the East Bank Demerara unit by a 7-0 scoreline in front a large crowd.

Den Amstel secured passage to the finale, after downing Bagotville by a 2-0 scoreline. With the win, Den Amstel pocketed $100,000. Timehri secured their passage to the final, after edging Sophia 2-1.

In the earlier rounds, Timehri bested Uitvlugt 1-0, while Sophia needled Soesdyke 3-2.
