Moblissa woman wants father, 79, isolated after COVID+19 diagnosis

Noting how quickly her elderly mother developed severe symptoms of COVID-19 before dying, Moblissa resident Coleen Williams is hoping that authorities move swiftly to isolate her father, who has also tested positive and has pre-existing conditions, so that he can be properly monitored.
Williams yesterday told Sunday Stabroek that her 79-year-old father’s condition is worsening and her family is hoping that he will be hospitalised as it seems that he is developing severe symptoms of the virus. Her mother, 74-yearold Estella Williams, succumbed last Thursday.
“My sister called me this morning and she told me that daddy cough getting worse. So I told the nurse this morning and up to now I don’t know if they will bring him here,” the woman said from the Linden Hospital Complex, where she is currently being isolated after testing positive for COVID- 19 and exhibiting symptoms.
Coleen previously revealed that her father has several underlying health conditions. At the time of her mother’s death, she said that her father was only experiencing mild symptoms of the virus but now it seems that his symptoms are getting more severe.
She said that the family is getting worried about him because her mother developed severe COVID19 symptoms in a matter of hours. When asked if they informed health care workers about the situation, she said that they did but didn’t receive a response and were told that doctors would be going to Moblissa to check on the man.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Health ( MoH) told this
newspaper on Friday that a health team would be travelling to Moblissa to assess the situation as persons with mild symptoms of COVID-19 should be isolated at an institution.
However, when contacted yesterday, the official said that health team did not travel to Moblissa but the family was contacted by telephone and asked whether they wanted to isolate at an institution. The official said the family refused and claimed that its members did not have any symptoms.
