Granny, 87, daughter and granddaugh­ter killed by speeding car at Kairuni: Three persons: Antonia Henry, 87, her daughter Melina Emmanuel, 40, and her granddaugh­ter, Akese Jerome, 8, were killed last Sunday night after a speeding driver lost control of his car and plowed into them and others sitting on the curbside of a road at Kairuni, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. While the three family members were killed, two other persons, Rodwell Jerome, 50, and Alena Persaud, 8, were left hospitalis­ed. The driver of the car, Kevin Bizzeth, 39, a fireman of Rainbow City, Mackenzie, is in police custody. At the time of the accident, 9.50 pm, the victims were waiting for their relatives. The police said that Bizzeth was proceeding south along the eastern side of the road at a fast rate and lost control. As a result, he collided with the curb on the left side of the road before the car careened into the group of persons who were sitting on the side of the road on the said curb. Jerome was picked up in an unconsciou­s state and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by a passing vehicle. She was pronounced dead on arrival. Her grandmothe­r, Henry, and mother, Emmanuel, were picked up in an unconsciou­s state and were taken to the Mackenzie Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. Jerome and Persaud were also picked up in an unconsciou­s state and taken to the Mackenzie Hospital. Jerome is pre-sently under observatio­n at the Mackenzie Hospital, while Alena was transferre­d to the

Georgetown Public Hospital, where she was placed in intensive care.

Two men die in Timehri crash: Two men died and another was seriously injured after the car they were in crashed along the Timehri Public Road on the night of May 22nd.. The friends were returning from a barbeque at Soesdyke. The deceased men have been identified as the driver of the car, 24-year-old Pascal Dainty of Lot 1841 Unity Place, Festival City, North Ruimveldt and 32-year-old Delon Whitehead of Lot 187 B Field, Sophia and Lot 41 William Street, Kitty. The injured man has been identified as 25-year-old Michael Kendall of Block X, Great Diamond, East Bank Demerara. According to a police report, at about 8:30 pm, the car registered as number PXX 5192 was proceeding north along the western side of the Timehri Public Road at a fast rate when the driver lost control of it. As a result the car ran off the road, colliding with two lamp posts situated on the western side of the road before turning turtle several times and coming to a stop on the western parapet on a concrete fence. The occupants of the car were picked up by the police and citizens and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Whitehead and Dainty were pronounced dead on arrival. Kendall was admitted a patient in the Intensive Care Unit at the GPH where his condition has been listed as serious.
