Ghana Vice President arrives for official visit:

Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia landed in Guyana on Saturday for an official fourday visit aimed at aimed at furthering Guyana/Ghana bilateral relations. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dr Bawumia is leading an 18-member official delegation as well as members of the Ghanaian private sector. The ministry said that during his visit he and the delegation will engage in high-level-bilateral discussion­s at both the government and private sector levels, including engagement­s with President Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo. The two sides are to sign a framework bilateral cooperatio­n agreement and further advance the conclusion of agreements in areas of mutual interest. He is also due to meet with members of the Ghanaian diaspora and pay a visit to the University of Guyana. Vice President Bawumia’s visit follows on the heels of a recent visit to Ghana by Jadgeo for wide ranging discussion­s in relation to several areas of mutual concern to Guyana and Ghana.
