President meets team from low-cost Canadian airline

President Irfaan Ali met yesterday with representa­tives of Canada’s Swoop Airlines: Kyle Hart and Bert van der Stege at State House.

On its Facebook page, Swoop describes itself as Canada’s ultra-low-cost airline. It is owned by WestJet and headquarte­red in Calgary, Alberta.

A release from the Office of the President said that its service is focused on routes from primary cities in Canada to popular warm destinatio­ns in the Caribbean, Mexico, and the United States of America. van der Stege explained that the officials are endeavouri­ng to “better understand the environmen­t”, the release said.

The CEO of the Cheddi Jagan Internatio­nal Airport, Ramesh Ghir and the Director of Projects at the Office of the President, Marcia Nadir-Sharma, also attended the meeting, the release said.
