Keys, watch found at Yarrowkabra identified as belonging to missing man
The watch and keys recovered from what appears to be a gruesome murder site at Yarrowkabra have been identified as belonging to missing Parfaite Harmonie man, Marc Melville, 47.
Melville’s family is convinced that the chopped, burnt body found in a suitcase is his but results of DNA testing are being awaited.
Commander of Regional Division 4B (East Bank Demerara) Superintendent Denise Griffith, in a telephone interview with Stabroek News on Thursday said that Melville’s mother has identified the keys and watch as his.
Relatives of Melville have been asked to give statements as it relates to his disappearance and the burnt remains found at Yarrowkabra, Linden-Soesdyke Highway. Stabroek News was told that there appeared to be chop wounds to the skull and other body parts and the body had been stuffed into a suitcase and burnt. Police on Monday conducted an investigation at Melville’s home and the keys that were found opened doors at his house.
Relatives told Stabroek News that Melville would usually carry a knife in his bag and that the screwdrivers that were found at Yarrowkabra are the same ones he would normally use to make extension cords. Following reports, a search was conducted by police ranks at Snake Farm, Yarrowkabra on Sunday, where the burnt remains were found along the trail. The remains were found in some bushes, north of the entrance leading to the Circuit Area, Timehri.
Melville went missing around three weeks ago. At the time he went missing he was involved in a court case pertaining to the division of his assets.
