Dead body found at Palmyra

The body of an unidentified man was discovered on Friday afternoon behind the Ansa McAl compound located along the main road in Palmyra Village, East Canje Berbice.

The body, which was found in a crouched position in a clump of grass, was clad in green threequarter pants, a light green jersey.

The police were notified after the discovery. Law enforcers checked the body for marks of violence and it was observed during this process that the skin from the right side of the man’s face, his right ankle, and his right hand was peeling.

The body was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where it was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

The body is at a funeral parlour awaiting identification and a post mortem examination.
