Sterling Products Limited rewards students who excelled at NGSA

-

Sterling Products Limited recently awarded nine students who excelled at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) cash payouts of $80,000 each.

A Sterling Products Limited press release stated that in keeping with the company’s annual tradition, cash awards were handed over on October 14, 2022, at a ceremony at the company’s office at Providence.

The annual bursary programme has been in place for over two decades for students who were successful at the NGSA examination.

The awardees were: Treon Anthony Webster, Anjali Poliah, Antwon Reece, Kishan Ramroop, Manish Vivaykanand, Naiomie Ramdoo, Romana Shavanie Baldeo, Urecella Chung, and Andrew Ramchandra.

The students attained at least 70% at the NGSA examinations.

According to the release, Robert Ross, the company’s Development and Quality Assurance Manager, assured the children that Sterling will continue the tradition in years to come. He wished them well in their secondary school journey and reminded them that they are the future leaders by saying, “It is always a privilege to be part of this process, so we must invest in you because you are the future leaders as you continue to pursue your education.”

Meanwhile, Davendra Persaud, Assistant Chief Education Officer, said to the parents: “…[I]t does not matter which school your child was awarded at the Grade Six Assessment, they can do well wherever they were placed. All schools use the same

curriculum to teach the children.” To the students, he further said: “To the children, make use of this opportunity and be good ambassadors at whichever school you’re attending. I know in five

years you will make your parents proud at the CSEC examination. You will just need five subjects with grades 1-3 to attend any tertiary educational institution in Guyana.”

According to the release, the parents expressed appreciation to Sterling Products Limited for continuously investing in the academic development of the children.
