Guyana bundled out of FIBA AmeriCup after consecutive losses
Following their unbeaten run in the qualifiers to seal a berth to the main draw of the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup Championship men’s division, team Guyana was bundled out of the event yesterday, following consecutive losses to Canada and Mexico in Pool C at the AT&T East Plaza in Miami, Florida.
The Guyanese lost to Canada in their final pool match 9-21. In their earlier match in the division, Guyana lost 15-16 to Mexico. Earlier in the day, Guyana defeated Haiti and Ecuador in the qualifying round to seal their berth to the main draw.
Guyana defeated Ecuador 13-12 in overtime, before overcoming Haiti 19-17. The Guyanese had defeated Aruba on Friday in their first qualifying match 2014. The team consisted of Shelroy Thomas, Nikkoloi Smith, and siblings Delroy and Gordon James.
