City Constabulary stretched to the limit - Foo

-

In light of the recent robbing and stabbing of a City Constabulary guard at the Merriman Mall Play Park, Chief Constable Andrew Foo in a comment, emphasized the dangers that criminal elements pose to not only regular citizenry, but to those designated to protect as well.

He noted too that the entity is particularly vulnerable at current, as they are stretched to capacity in some areas and have had to bring in external help.

Sixty-five-year-old Ragland Williams serves as an example as he is one in a batch of guards who were brought on by the Council to man specific areas.

Asked what measures will be taken moving forward, Foo expressed that the situation would first have to be assessed, but noted that several persons would be needed on location given its size and importance.

Williams was stabbed to the chest and shoulder on Tuesday by two men, who he said jumped the fence to the Merriman Mall play park before making their way over to his hut, where they demanded he give them the keys to a bicycle chained nearby.

The injured man related that he had told the men the bike did not belong to him but they paid no heed, stabbing him about the body. Williams was taken to the hospital by photographer Keno George, who had been in the playground at the time conducting a photoshoot along with acquaintances.

Commander of A Division Clifton Hicken related on Thursday that an ID parade will soon be held, after which the suspect will be arraigned before the court.
