Pistons edge Toronto Raptors by a point
(The Sports Xchange) - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored five of his 21 points in the final minute and the Detroit Pistons overcame a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Toronto Raptors 102-101 on Sunday.
DeMar DeRozan missed a 17-foot jumper at the end that would have given the Raptors victory.
It was the 10th loss in the past 14 games for Toronto(32-23).
Tobias Harris led Detroit (26-29) with 24 points off the bench.
Knicks 94, Spurs 90
Carmelo Anthony poured in 25 points, helping the New York Knicks snap a four-game losing streak with a 94-90 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Derrick Rose added 18 points and Kristaps Porzingis contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for the Knicks (23-33), who finished a five-game homestand 1-4.
Kawhi Leonard paced the Spurs (41-13) with 36 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
New York held the Spurs, the best 3-point shooting team in the league, to just 20 percent (6 of 29) from beyond the arc.
Timberwolves Bulls 89
Andrew Wiggins scored 27 points and KarlAnthony Towns added 22 as the Minnesota Timberwolves crushed the shorthanded Chicago Bulls 117-89.
Chicago played without starters Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade, as well as backups Nikola Mirotic and Paul Zipser. Minnesota took advantage with Ricky Rubio adding 17 points, 11 117, assists and six rebounds for the Timberwolves (21-34), who had lost five of their past six games.
Doug McDermott started for Butler and had 16 points for Chicago (26-29), which lost its third straight game. Kings 105, Pelicans 99 DeMarcus Cousins scored 28 points and added 14 rebounds and seven assists as Sacramento beat New Orleans.
Darren Collison chipped in 20 points and eight assists for the Kings, who won for the third consecutive time and closed a 4-2 homestand that began with a buzzer-beater loss to the Phoenix Suns. Colts humbled Pepsi Sonics 78-59 with Shelroy Thomas recording 22 points and five rebounds in the rout while rising star Stanton Rose shot his way to 22 points.
Shane Webster assisted with 10 points, five rebounds while recent recruit Jermaine Slater registered seven points and five rebounds.
For Pepsi Sonics, Earl O’Neil amassed 14 points and nine rebounds while Trevor Smith tallied 14 points and eight steals. Junior Lovell supported with eight points and five rebounds. In another encounter, Nets clipped Eagles 72-55. Fabian Johnson bagged 17 points and eight rebounds in the win while the next best scorers were Mortimer Williams with 11 points and Pelham Doris with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Contributing 10 points each were Mortimer Robinson and Hodayah Stewart. For Eagles, Louis James tallied 15 points and seven rebounds while emerging talent Kevin Higgins recorded a doubledouble of 13 points and 16 rebounds.
Chipping in with 12 points and five rebounds was Owen Walton while Devon Murray accumulated seven points and 11 rebounds. The event resumes tomorrow at the same venue.
