Pouderoyen dumped from WDFA Yearend Qualifiers

-

Pouderoyen FC was unexpectedly dumped out of the West Demerara Football Association [WDFA] ‘Yearend Qualifiers’ going down 2-1 to Crane Rovers yesterday at the Den Amstel ground.

It what can be described as an embarrassing result for the traditional giant, Pouderoyen FC fell behind in the 24th minute when Alonzo Bowman scored. The nippy Bowman uncorked a powerful right foot volley from the top of the box which sailed into the roof of the net, after latching onto a poorly defended cross. Despite leading the contest, Rovers were reduced to 10 men in the 52nd minute as goalscorer Bowman was issued with a red card for using abusive and offensive language to the official.

Pouderoyen quickly capitalised on their numerical advantage with Dwayne St. Kitts unleashing a curling right foot freekick into the back of the net in the 56th minute.

Nevertheless, Crane overcame their handicapp to secure the winning goal in the 60th minute when Oswin Boyce scored with a header.

In another fixture, Beavers dismantled Jetty Gunners 4-1. Telbert Baptiste bagged a double in the 56th and 64th minute while Maxwell Trapp and Ryan Nelson netted in the seventh and 32nd minute.

For the loser, Brendon Romain scored in the 44th minute. Meanwhile, DeKinderen edged Stewartville 2-1. Kevin Coleman tallied a double in the 14th and 42nd minute.

For the loser, Chelston Phillips found the back of the net in the 68th minute. The tournament continues at the same venue on Saturday. Pouderoyen-1 vs Crane-2 Crane Scorers Alonzo Bowman-24th Oswin Boyce-60th Pouderoyen Scorer Dwayne St. Kitts-56th
