Na­tional U19s down Notre Dame to claim open­ing win in UWI in­doors

The Guyana Hockey Board’s (GHB) Na­tional Un­der - 19 De­vel­op­ment Team, Su­per­nova, be­gan the Uni­ver­sity of West In­dies (UWI) In­door cham­pi­onship on a win­ning note by de­feat­ing Norte Dame on Thurs­day evening, in the Twin Is­land Repub­lic.

The Guyanese cap­tured the match which was played at the UWI Sports and Phys­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­tre (SPEC) in­door fa­cil­ity 4-0, cour­tesy of strikes from four dif­fer­ent goal scores.

Six­teen-year-old War­ren Wil­liams was first to check the score­card for the Guyanese in the third minute.

Nine min­utes later, the easy­go­ing Sa­muel Woodroffe nav­i­gated a penalty cor­ner pass the up­right to hand the Guyanese a 2-0 lead which took them into the half.

The young­sters then com­pleted the open­ing 4-0 win fol­low­ing goals from Ka­reem McKen­zie - in the 20th - and Omar Hop­kin­son whose came in the 24th minute of the con­test.
