Everest crush GNIC by 223 runs

Everest Cricket Club (ECC) began the season with a crushing 223-run win over the Guyana National Industrial Corporatio­n (GNIC) yesterday in the Georgetown Cricket Associatio­n (GCA), New Building Society (NBS) second-division 40-overs tournament.

Everest, after winning the toss and deciding to bat posted 281 for 6 from their allotted 40 overs with Saheed Mohamed leading the way with an innings of 84 which included seven fours and three maximums.

National U19 player Richie Looknauth supported with a knock of 74, carving out seven fours and two sixes.

Mandrekar Bhola (52) was also among the runs while David Dick (2-30) ended as the pick of the GNIC bowlers.

GNIC, in response, were bundled out for 58 with Raylex Payne grabbing 5-26 to complete the win for the host while Mohamed (3-16) returned with the ball to complete an impressive all-round effort.
