Administrative professionals honoured in novel event

-

In honour of Administrative Professionals Week, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security (MoHSSS) on Wednesday last provided its staff with an afternoon of relaxation through painting and interaction. The occasion was covered by Zen & Company, a business that promotes self-care.

The last week of April was designated globally as Administrative Professionals Week and as such Minister of MoHSSS, Dr Vindhya Persaud and Permanent Secretary Shannielle Hoosein-Outar hosted the event.

As shared on the ministry’s Facebook page, the staff were pleasantly surprised by the gesture and the minister thanked the administrative staff for their invaluable support and contributions to the ministry’s daily operations. Members of the staff noted that the event was not only a creative way to appreciate them but also therapeutic.

CEO Surida Nagreadi said Zen & Company was thrilled to have been a part of the occasion. “We were delighted that Minister Persaud wanted to honour her staff by allowing them to express their creative side. The event was well received and although many were first time acrylic painters, they sure unleashed the artists in them. Minister Persaud actively participated in the entire session by offering

tips and tricks on painting as she herself is no stranger to painting,” the CEO said. As a result, they seemed satisfied by the time they were done painting their canvases and were also more jovial and relaxed.

In the coming weeks, Zen will work along with other businesses and private individuals on sip and paint sessions. It is also looking to restart its sip and paint events following all COVID-19 protocols.

The company was founded last year, but the coronavirus saw events halted. However, when people began publicly sharing that they were bored and depressed, Nagreadi came up with the idea of creating care packages for individuals, couples and families as a fun and exciting way to ride out the pandemic.

Zen’s self-care baskets come with scented candles, novels, journals, stylish pens and markers, luxury soaps, colouring books, bathing salts, facial masks, and body care products. The company can be reached at 681-7874.
