Minibus driver dies in threevehic­le accident at Dora

Minibus driver Mark Ault died on Sunday night in an accident involving three vehicles at Dora on the Linden-Soesdyke Highway. Three other persons were injured.

The police in a statement yesterday said that inquiries disclosed that Ault in minibus # PKK 3866 was proceeding north along the western side of the Dora Public Road, LindenSoes­dyke Highway. At the same time hire car # HC 9662, driven by Lindon Lamaizon, age 51, of Brusche Dam, Friendship Village, East Coast Demerara was proceeding in the opposite direction and ended up in the path of the said minibus. The right side of the hire car collided with the rear wheel of the minibus causing the driver of the minibus to lose control.

As a result, the right front of the minibus collided with the right side of motor car # PLL 3468 which was proceeding south along the eastern carriagewa­y of the road behind the hire car.

As a result of the collision the driver of the minibus and the occupants of motor car PLL 3486 suffered injuries about their bodies.

Ault was picked up in an unconsciou­s condition and taken to the MacKenzie Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of motor car # PLL 3468, Julian Elliot, age 61 years of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden and occupants Akeemo Elliot and Candace Gordon were picked up in a conscious condition by public spirited-citizens and the police and taken to the said institutio­n where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty. The occupants of the car were kept at the institutio­n for observatio­n.

The driver of motor car #PLL 3468 was then referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporatio­n, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on

duty and admitted in the male surgical ward suffering from a fractured pelvis and spine.

Ault transporte­d newspapers from Georgetown to Linden on a daily basis.

Ananda Ault, a daughter of the deceased, described her father as “a pillar of support, strength and discipline.”

The grieving teen stated that Mark was a joyful, kindhearte­d and loving individual to all with whom he came into contact with.

She said that his family was informed of the accident via a post on a social media platform.

Mark was also known as `Cat eye’ or `Paper man.’
