WI Slip to 7th in Test rankings

-Holder replaced as top test all-rounder

West Indies have slipped one place down the Test rankings after their 2-0 series defeat at the hands of South Africa while Jason Holder has relinquish­ed his place as the number one ranked Test all-rounder.

According to the latest Internatio­nal Cricket Council’s ratings, the Caribbean side, which hosted the South Africans, are now seventh with their opponents taking the sixth spot with 88 points. West Indies sits on 78 points, equal to Sri Lanka. This means that the West Indies would have lost six points from the series with the visitors gaining eight. It was only last month that the Maroon boys achieved their highest ranking of sixth since 2013 following a four-match unbeaten streak.

Meanwhile in the individual rankings, Holder has moved down to second and has been replaced by India’s Ravindra Jadeja who has two points more than the 6’ 7” West Indian with 386 points.

Roston Chase has dived down to 12th while Kyle Mayers’ exploits with the ball has helped him move to 17th in the allrounder rankings.

The right-arm fast bowler Holder also moved two spaces down in the bowling rankings to 10th. He is the highest ranked bowler from the Caribbean with Kemar

Roach moving up to 14th. Shannon Gabriel also dipped to 25th while off-spinner, Chase is now down to 42nd.

Jermaine Blackwood jumped 12 spots

Roston Chase

and has replaced Holder as the highest ranked West Indian batsman having moved up to 44th with Holder dropping to 49th.
