-

Some 342 soldiers of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) have been awarded cash incentives for their outstanding service throughout the year.

The GDF in a release day stated that the Chief of Staff, Brigadier Godfrey Bess, assisted by other officers made the presentation at the Annual Incentive Ceremony held at the Auditorium, Base Camp Ayanganna, Georgetown. The ranks were drawn from various units of the Force.

The Brigadier congratulated the recipients and urged them to continue to excel. “You have been identified as deserving of incentives. You are being rewarded because you have given exceptional service during the year and your superiors have found you worthy of recognition.”

He also congratulated them for doing their best and supporting their commanders throughout the past year. “This incentive is simply a token of recognition. I believe that all our officers and ranks are valuable and we are very grateful for your service.”

The ranks were also encouraged to inspire and support each other in positive ways and were reminded of the need to remain vigilant while continuing to observe all COVID-19 protocols.
