Students of this school were clearly ill-disciplined and lacked respect

- Dear Editor,

It’s indeed a shame and embarrassment to this secondary school. On 7th December 2021, some students of the school (name provided) were involved in indisciplined behaviour. However, it is clear that while there are disciplined and respectful students of this school, there are some who are disrespectful to not only teachers, peers or parents, but also to society.

Moreover, to justify this, let me take you back to an issue that transpired in 2017“… teacher-student showdown, March 29, 2019”. To make long story short, “A video was being circulated on social media showing a confrontation between a student and a teacher of … Secondary School. The video showed the female teacher and a male student struggling for possession of a cellular device, however the cell phone in question, belonged to the student and was confiscated by the teacher in keeping with school rules. However, the most disrespectful part of this incident is that another student who was out of sight, could be heard inciting the situation by encouraging the male student to ‘throw the teacher in the bin’ and that was not all, the teacher gain possession of the cell phone and raised a warning finger at the student who was still in confrontation mode. When the teacher attempted to leave the classroom, the male student blocked her movement while another student stood at the door, shortly after the video ended.”

So with this, it is clear that some students of this school are not respectful to even their teachers, and the indisciplined behaviour of these students continues to grow day by day and even year by year. Moreover, the unacceptable act of these students that transpired days ago should be dealt with. Our teachers are trying their best, Parents, themselves, are trying too. I could only imagine the shame and disgrace these students brought upon their parents and family. There is no respect these days, none at all. Comparing long ago to now, it is clear that the younger generation is getting from bad to worse. These students of the school played loud and inappropriate music which is totally unacceptable for the school’s curriculum. They were dancing and doing all sorts of things. While there were many students involved in this act, some who were just looking on, did not even report the act to a teacher or the HM. They all sat and enjoyed every bit. It is so disgusting to see. The thing that bothers me the most, is that these students were not even afraid nor shy in any way, they even instructed other students to video and take pictures of what they were doing. I’m very much hurt to see this kind of behaviour from those who we call our future. Sincerely,
