Corentyne duo held over suspected cocaine

A man and woman were on Tuesday arrested after they were busted with 45 grams of suspected cocaine at Number 60 Village, Corentyne.

The Guyana Police Force yesterday said that lawmen conducted a search in the district for arms, ammunition and drugs when at Lot 333, Number 60 Village they met a female, 63, who after noticing the police, handed over The suspected cocaine that was a transparen­t glass found bottle to a male, 58, who then ran into the house.

Police then gave chase and noticed that the male had thrown the bottle into some bushes in the backyard. The police retrieved the bottle in his presence, carried out an examinatio­n and discovered two transparen­t plastic bags with a rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.

The duo was told of the charge and the male claimed ownership while the female denied it. They were arrested and taken to the Number 51 Police Station where the suspected cocaine was weighed and amounted to 45 grams.
